Mount Carmel Cemetery is located on Lasalle Line a short distance west of Navoo Road (the former Highway 79) between the villages of Watford and Alvinston, Ontario. The cemetery was originally founded in 1860 by the Methodist Episcopal Church for cemetery purposes, and the chapel was built in 1862. The distinctive iron fence and gate were installed in 1936.

The church was closed in 1898, but the community keeps the property up and a handful of new graves are created each year.

Burials at Mount Carmel consist primarily of Protestant settler families from the communities of Watford and Alvinston and their descendants. A printed index and listing of burials is available from the Lambton County Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society (undated document, possibly about 1936), but it does not include recent burials.
