Mollie Florence Moffit, 51, daughter of Francis and Arabella McAfee Moffit, was born in Linn Grove, on December 27th, 1860, and passed away in Tipton, Iowa, November 2nd, 1912.

Mollie received her education in the home schools. She afterwards prepared herself for teaching by attendance at Cornell College, Mt. Vernon . Afterwards and for a number of years she was a successful teacher, and was connected with our public schools for four years. Many of the boys and girls hereabouts have kindly remembrances of the school days spent under the skillful and conscientious instruction of Miss Moffit.

She was a tireless and industrious worker, both as a teacher and afterwards as a business woman. If her health had permitted she would have made a great success in a business way. Her honest and untiring efforts to please all with whom she came in contact were always appreciated.

She was a patient sufferer. The great affliction from which she suffered, had made serious inroads on her health before she even mentioned it to her family. Twice she has been compelled to undergo serious and dangerous surgical operations without a word of complaint; and as often life has again seemed bright to her. She has been, during her last sickness, confined to her bed for thirteen long weeks. She passed the long hot summer days without complaint, and during all this time not a cross word, or word of fault-finding ever passed her lips. She was ever thoughtful of others; and never failed to express appreciation for the smallest of kindnesses shown her.

Her father passed from us on May 16th, 1901; and her mother on January 13th, 1907. Her four sisters and two brothers are all with us.
