Hassel Joe "Whitey" Summerford, 79 of Woodville, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011. Graveside services were held Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Kirk Memorial Gardens. Bro. Vernon Stephens, Jr., Bro. Paul Higdon and bro. Shirley Byrum officiated.

Mr. Summerford is survived by his wife, Vickey Black Summerford; daughters, Debra (Brett) Stephens, Karen Braverman, and Paula (Pete) Harbin; sons, Keith (Leana) James, Wayne (Laura) Summerford, Jerry (Faye) Summerford and Donald (Brenda) Summerford; sisters, Lola Wooten, Maunee Maxwell; borthers, Arthur (Hazel) Summerford, Buford (Maewilla) Summerford; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Mr. Summerford was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Morgan Summerford; parents, Joe and Arizona Summerford; seven brothers; and eight sisters.
