Johannes Kalmback, a resident of the Fallon community for the past 36 years, passed away Monday evening, March 10, 1947, at the Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, where he had been ill for twelve days.
Born in Russia, August 17, 1889, son of Mr and Mrs Adam Kalmback, he came with his parents to America when a youngster, and settled on a farm near Kulm ND. In 1911 the family came to MT and established a home on the little flat south of Fallon where he resided until his death. His health had been poor for the last few years, and during the last three months he moved to Fallon to be near relatives and friends. In 1904, he was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran church.
He had never married and his parents had been deceased for many years. One brother and five sisters survive, who are Ed Kalmback, Mrs Albert Heck and Mrs Harold Bredberg, of Fallon; and Mrs Del Trimble of Wolf Point; Mrs Andrew Gackle and Mrs Gottfried Gackle of Watkins. A sister, Kathryn, and brother, Fred preceded him in death.3-20-1947
Funeral services were held at the Fallon Evangelical church Friday, March 14, with Rev E J Bott officiating. Interment was made in the Terry cemetery, pallbearers being his nephews, Oscar,Howard, Walter,Dic and Albert Gackle, and Sonny Bredberg. The entire community sympathize with the surviving relatives in the loss of the second member of their family within a short time.
