MONTEREY — Funeral services for Eugene Buckner, 86, of Monterey, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey. Interment will follow in Phillips Cemetery in the Anderson community.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the funeral home.

Mr. Buckner passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, in Bethesda Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Cookeville.

He was born March 6, 1929, in Monterey to the late Issac Lee “Ike” and Ethel Lee Phillips Buckner.

Mr. Buckner was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and the AFL-CIO. He attended Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

His family includes a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Debbie Buckner of Cookeville; a sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Perry Brown of Cookeville; and four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Harson and Katherine Buckner of Monterey, Hollis and Dimple Buckner of Monterey, Coy Buckner of Monterey and Carl and Bernice Buckner of Monterey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Mayzelle Buckner; three sisters, Hazel Ruth Buckner, Ellen Marie Looper and Leann “Anna” Buckner; and an infant brother, Grover Buckner.

Rev. Delmer McCowan will officiate at the services.
