William "Willie" M. Herndon died the same day as his father, William H. Herndon. They both had been ill from la grippe. Willie's case turned to pneumonia and he died at his father's house at 5 o'clock in the morning and at 11:30 o'clock his father expired. He was survived by his mother, Anna, and two sisters, Nina Belle and Minnie, residing at home. (Extracted from IL State Register, Springfield, IL, March 19 1891)
