Kathy was the beloved daughter of the late Lena (Enos) Almeida and the late Antonio Almeida. Kathy is survived by her beloved sisters, Susan A. Ponte (Michael) of Rehoboth, MA, and Sharon L. Vessella (Denis) of Johnston, RI. She was pre-deceased in life by her brother, Anthony. Kathy also leaves many treasured nieces and nephews.
Kathy was an administrative assistant at Electric Boat for 21 years before her retirement. Kathy lived a full life and enjoyed special times with family and friends. Kathy was a true caregiver to all, especially her beloved husband, Leo, who despite her own cancer, took care of him every day at home after he suffered a stroke two years ago.
Kathy's second home was Vero Beach, Florida, where she and Leo spent most of their winters for 28 years. Kathy has built many special friendships over the past years, and has enjoyed time spent with all of them. She especially enjoyed playing mah jongg and bocce and excelled at whatever she did. Kathy was a fierce protector and defender of those she loved, and a true friend.
calling hours will be on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 9-11 am at the Potvin-Quinn Funeral Home, 45 Curson Street, West Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at Holy Apostles Church, 800 Pippin Orchard Road, Cranston. Burial to follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Lifespan Cancer Institute at Rhode Island Hospital or Hope Hospice and Palliative Care.
