The funeral for Mrs. Pearl B. Severance,70,of Fulton, former resident of Gouverneur, was held Friday at the Northam Fox funeral home, Watertown,with the Rev. John B. Smiley, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Watertown, officiating. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, Gouverneur. Mrs. Severance, widow of Karl W. Severance, died April 25 in Lee Memorial hospital, Fulton, where she had been a patient since April 22. She had been in ill health for about three years. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Anthony J, (Marion) Marino, Fulton, with whom she had resided; Mrs. Bernice W. Spriggs, North Syracuse, and Mrs. Bernard A. (Lucille) Pernice, Watertown; and one sister, Mrs. Leland (Marjorie) 'Brien, Pennellviile.
Mrs. Severance was born Nov. 12, 1896, in Phoenix, a daughter of Frank and Blanche Fralick Washer. She was married to Karl W. Severance on Feb. 18,1915. Mr. and Mrs. Severance resided for many years in Gouverneur where Mr. Severance was identified with the undertaking business with his brother, late Glen W. Severance. Mrs. Severance was employed as a waitress in the Crystal Palace. They later moved to Watertown where Mr. Severance was employed by the Northam & Fox funeral home until 1947 when they opened and operated a roadside stand near the Cold Creek Inn. Mr. Severance died June 8, 1957.
Mrs. Severance had bowled with teams of various leagues in Watertown, including the Watertown Women's City Bowling Team.
