Watertown births: Uriah Clark sonn of Hugh and Elizabath borne the : 5d — 4m 1644

Uriah, son of settler Hugh, b. June 5, 1644, mar. 1674, Joanna Holbrook, a second wife, Mary, and even a third, Martha, and had twelve children. (Harris' Epitaphs)

From contributor Paul A. Clark:

Uriah had three children with Joanna Holbrook - Uriah Jr., 1677, Thomas, 1679, and John, 1681. Joanna died in 1682, and later that year he married Mary Twells. They had 7 additional children: Mary 1683, Joanna 1687, Richard 1690, Peter 1693, Benjamin 1696, Nathaniel 1698, and Samuel, 1700. He then is alleged to have married a woman named Martha ___?___, but without additional children. So he had only 10 children in all.

Martha Pease was the daughter of Cpt. Samuel Pease who captained a ship of volunteers going after a pirate named Pound in 1689. In the encounter Samuel was mortally wounded, though the pirates were captured. There were funds raised throughout the colony for the support of his widow and children, including Martha.
