Peggy Thomas Furin, 70, of Waycross died Wednesday morning (April 29, 2009) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Waycross to the late Calvin Matthew Thomas and Barbara Banks Thomas. Ms. Furin lived in North Carolina for over 30 years before moving back to Waycross in 2001. She was a graduate of Waycross High School and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Furin, Fayetteville, NC; three children, Kerri Tompkins Walters, Fayetteville, NC, Lori Tompkins Jackson, Waycross, Robert Scott Tompkins and his wife Courtney, Angier, NC; two brothers, Calvin W. Thomas, Waycross, Ronald Thomas and his wife Cindy, Waycross; three grandchildren, Joshua Walters, Raleigh, NC, Kristin Watson, Waycross and Cody Jackson, Waycross; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 2 PM at Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
