Silas Ward Jones, 85, of Washington Township, Mich., passed away November 21, 2006. Beloved husband of Patty for 52 years. Loving father of Jeanine Jones and Jeffrey (Laura) Jones. Proud grandfather of Hillary and Victoria. Dear brother of Roberteen Slusher (Dearborn, Mich.) and Katherine Nester (Floyd, Va). Uncle to two nieces and six nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Flemon and Fannie Jones; brother, John Paul Jones; and sisters, Anne Murphy and Ruth Johnson. Celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Laurel Branch Church of the Brethren in Floyd, Va., officiated by Angela Carr. Floyd V.F.W. Post # 7854 and American Legion Post # 127 will bestow military honors at the Jones/Slusher family cemetery (Floyd). In lieu of flowers, his request was that tribute gifts be designated to the World War II Museum.
