National Aeronautics and Space Administration Chief. NASA's second, and, according to many, greatest administrator, serving from 1961 to 1968. It was James Webb who provided the leadership necessary to see NASA to the Moon, and to get the agency through its first tragedy, the Apollo 1 fire. He was also the Director of the Bureau of the Budget (now called the Office of Management and Budget, or OMB) and then Under Secretary of State under President Truman. He died in 1992 of Parkinson's Disease.
