Appearing in movies from 1917-1929, he became a favorite Hollywood star for his convincing portrayal of Huckleberry Finn in the first ever Tom Sawyer movie (1917), followed by and Huck and Tom (1918). Other films include The Varmint (1918), The Moonshine Trail (1919), Dawn (1919), A Yankee Princess (1919), If Women Only Knew (1921), Respectable by Proxy (1920), The Vice of Fools (1920), Dollars and the Woman (1920), and The Blood Barrier (1920), Missing (1918), Night Ship, The Greatest Menace, The Wild Cat (1924). In 1920, he and his wife Alma bought a home near Ithaca, NY where he made films for a time at the studio of Cayuga Pictures, Ithaca. A stage actor as well, he acted the role of Death in the Los Angeles stage production of the great old play Everyman on Nov 14, 15, 16, 1925; and in Shattered Lives (1926).

Marion is the son of Mrs. Myrta Duncan, and grandson of Mr and Mrs T.V. Lamport, former residents of Winfield.
