Mr Kenyon, 86, Is Dead STAMFORD - J. Grant Kenyon, 86, of Hyndsville, died yesterday morning in Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, where he had been a patient for two weeks. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday at Hall Funeral Home, Stamford, with the Rev A. E. Blann, pastor of Pilgrim Holiness Church, Oneonta, officiating. Burial will be in Stamford.
Mr. Kenyon was born in Blenheim on March 14, 1867, son of Benjamin and Harriet (Bailey) Kenyon. He married Susie Mattice of Blenheim. He was a member of Pilgrim Holiness Church, Oneonta. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Mary Webster, Hyndsville, Mrs. Milton Stevens, Fonda, Mrs Lloyd VanVoorhis, Worcester; two sons, Benjamin of Stamford, Chrles of Cobleskill; one sister, Mrs. Susie Spencer, New Jersey; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.∼Joseph Grant Kenyon, my grandfather, was born on a farm on Welch Road in Blenheim, NY. He had eight children, one not surviving infancy. In later years he visited different children in their homes for short times. I recall his visits, for he always brought chocolate drops for the children. He lived with my Aunt Mary Kenyon Webster and her husband Leroy near Seward, NY in the closing period of his life. I attended his funeral and recall the joy of his many friends who remembered him as a faithful Christian. He is buried in the cemetery in Stamford, NY and I have visited his gravesite many times.
