William Henry Smith, born 4 Sep 1809 in (probably Plumstead Tp.) Bucks Co., PA, was the 9th and last child of Nehemiah and Tamer Smith. The Nehemiah Smith family moved west to Washington Tp., Guernsey Co., OH where William married Elizabeth Speck at her parents' home on 13 Jan 1831.
After farming in Guernsey Co. , they and other members of the Smith family moved to Cardington Tp., Morrow Co., OH where they purchased 80 acres on which they built their farm house.
William was an active Odd Fellows Lodge member as is shown in the accompanying photo.

There is an extensive amount of information about William and Elizabeth Smith in "A Compilation of a Smith Family in America 1663 - 1937" written by their descendant Emma Lee Smith Saucier (1935-2002). Emma was a passionate Smith researcher and I had the privilege of collaborative research with her. This memorial is dedicated to her.
