RADM John Leveson-Gower (1740-1792) - Find a Grave Memorial

British Royal Navy Rear Admiral. The son of John Leveson-Gower (1st Earl Gower), he served in the Royal Navy from 1755 until his death. He participated in the Seven Years' War (Battle of Lagos), the American War of Independence (First Battle of Ushant (1778), the Relief of Gibraltar, and the Battle of Cape Spartel (1782)). His various naval commands include the HMS Salamander, the HMS Quebec, the HMS Africa, the HMS Aeolus, the HMS Pearl, the HMS Albion, the HMS Valiant, and the HMS Hebe. He died of a stroke at the age of 52.
