They got married in 1970 and from then on constantly traveled all over the world to study erupting volcanoes. While Maurice filmed, she photographed. They toured three months each year through France and showed their movies and pictures to have enough money to travel to volcanoes the rest of the year. Her photographs were published in the more than twenty books they wrote and in magazines like "National Geographic". She left more than 450.000 negatives of 140 eruptions that are today kept at the Musée National d'Histoire Naturelle (Natural Historic Museum) in Paris. They wanted to travel over Paris to their home when they got the news about the eruption of Mount Unzen. Once there, they were unable to rent a helicopter to see the risk for pyroclastic flows with their own eyes because all helicopters were rented to reporters.
