OBITUARY; Woodward Newspaper:
William Henry Handley son of Caleb Horner & Mary Ann Gorrell-Handley was born at Osgood, Missouri September 25, 1884 and departed this life March 29, 1936 at his home south of Woodward due to a carbide explosion, age 52 years, 6 month, 4 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Chrystal Elizabeth Hindle Dec 21, 1907. To this union 10 children were born, 4 sons, 6 daughters. The following survive: Mrs. Ralph Carey, William H. Handley Jr, Mrs. Wallace McDaniel, Woodward, Ok, Robert C and Mary Lue Handley of the home and Mrs. Roy Bookstore Freedom, Ok. Also 4 grandchildren, William Leroy and Shirley Marie Bookstore of Freedom Ok, Harold Wayne and Hershel Ray Carey, Woodward, 2 bros August Handley, Pauls Valley, Ok and James Handley, Kelso, Wa, 5 sisters Mrs. Martha Mosher Cushing, Ok, Mrs. Millie Moser, Kelso, Wa., Mrs. Nancy Cole, Okla City, Ok, Mrs. Ruth Ryan, Canada several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by two sons and 2 daughters James Clifford, Arthur Franklin, Alice Marie and Geneva Irene, one granddaughter Erma Louise Carey,father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Handley, 2 bros and 3 sisters.

He was a member of the Modern Woodman Lodge and a plasterer and mason by trade.He came to Oklahoma from Missouri in 1902. He was devoted an faithful husband and father loved and esteemed by those who knew him. Mr. Handley had many commendable qualities. He built many of the homes and business in Woodward and surrounding counties.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev E A Green of the Nazarene church assisted by Rev Harry Morgan of the Baptist church. Music was furnished by the ladies quartet of the Nazarene church. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, Chenoweth Mortuary in charge.

OBITUARY; Explosion of a carbide lighting system took the life of its owner Sunday morning shortly after 9:00 at his truck farm 2 1/2 miles south of Woodward. Handley was a widely known brickmason and plasterer, having worked on numerous structures in this city, as well as on other construction jobs and projects in this area. William Henry Handley was past 51 at his untimely death.
