Henry Fred Bischoff was born on January 10, 1888, in Nenndorf, Germany, the son of John and Wilemina Bischoff. He was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran church at Buecken, Germany. At the age of 5, he came to the United States with his parents and a sister, Minnie, to Elk Creek, Nebraska. In March 1901, the family moved to Athol, Kansas. On March 23, 1902, Henry was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Athol, Kansas.

On May 24, 1917, he was united in marriage to Lydia Beckmann in St. John's Lutheran Church, Athol, Kansas. In May 1917, he and his wife moved to Wauneta, Nebraska, where they lived until the time of his death.

Services for Henry Fred Bischoff were held Wednesday, June 11, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wauneta. Mr. Bischoff died on June 9, at the age of 87. Officiating was Rev. Eugene Denner with the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Choir singing "I am but a Stranger Here" and "Beautiful Savior." Mrs. Karen Christner was organist. Pallbearers were Pete Fanning, Dirk Shoemaker, Dale Bischoff, Clarence Zabel, Everett Keiser, and Ivan Denker. Interment was at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wauneta, with the Brunkhorst Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
