John Wilhelm Dietrich Bischoff, the son of John Bischoff and his wife, Minnie, was born on Jan. 22, 1898, at Elk Creek, Nebr. He departed this life at the State Hospital in Hastings, Nebr.

He was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Elk Creek, Nebr. He moved to this community along with his parents and became a member of St. Paul's Congregation. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran school and also received due instruction in the Word of God. After due instruction and examination he confessed his faith in the Triune God and was received into communicant membership through the right of confirmation on March 31, 1912.

He entered into Holy Wedlock on Aug. 28, 1921 with Miss Anna Denker. This marriage was blessed with the gift of five children, four daughters, Mrs. Lorene Lacy of Englewood, Colo., Mrs. Verna Burton, Wichita, Kans., Mrs. Maxine Walker, Emporia, Kans. and Mrs. Joyce McWilliams, Emporia, Kans.; and one son, Melvin of Emporia, Kans.

All five children survive their father.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, three sons-in-law, and one daughter-in-law. His death is also mourned by three brothers, Henry and Fred of Wauneta, and Carl of Salmon, Ore.; and four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Denker, Mrs. William Denker and Mrs. Carl Nordhausen, all of Wauneta, and Mrs. Alfred Winkelmann of Imperial, Nebr.

HIs father and mother and brother William preceded him in death.

The departed lived on a farm south of Enders before entering the state hospital. At the hospital, he was known as an exemplary patient, attending worship services and receiving Holy Communion from the Lutheran Chaplain of the hospital. After several incapacitating strokes and growing weakness, he departed this life last Saturday, 13 Aug, 1960, at 10 o'clock in the morning.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 16, 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Rev. John T. Schmidt officiating. The committal was in St. Paul's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Elmer Bischoff, Ivan Denker, Lavern Denker, Raymond Bischoff, Vernon Nordhausen, and Marvin Bischoff. The V. B. Johnston Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
