ALVIN HOLST

The sudden and unexpected death of Alvin Holst on Saturday morning was a shock to his many relatives and friend for apparently he was enjoying his usual good health when he retired on Friday evening when he retired on Friday evening. When he failed to come down for breakfast on Saturday morning an investigation was made by Carl Zibler, with whom he was staying and he was found dead in bed.

Alvin Holst, son of John Holst of Hayton, was born in Chilton town of July 16, 1892 spending his boyhood on his father's farm. About thirteen years ago he came to this city and started to work at the condensery, holding a position there for twelve years. In May of last year he gave up his position at the condensery and devoted his time to assisting Carl Zibller in his place of business on Main Street, with whom he was living at the time of his death.
He deceased was a member of the local Aerie of Eagles and of the I.O.O.F. and was well liked by all who knew him. "Shorty," as he was more familiarly called by his friends, was one of those cheerful inoffensive young fellows who have the knack of making friends and in spite of a deformity since his childhood he held his place among his fellowmen.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the I.O.O.F. Temple with interment at the cemetery in New Holstein.
He is survived by three brothers, John of this city, Louis of Chilton Town and George of Kiel, three sisters, Mrs. Adolph Schroeder of Chilton Town, Mrs. Wm. Bartel of Potter and Mrs. Geo. Smithers of Fond du Lac. He is also survived by his aged father, John Holst, Sr., of Hayton, his step-mother, Mrs. John Holst, one step-brother, Fred Lauden of Stockbridge and two step-sisters, Mrs. Herman Nehls of Manitowoc and Mrs. Carl Zibler of this city.
