Swedish-Norwegian prince. He was a member of the Bernadotte Dynasty and Duke of Uplandia, becoming eventually a famous composer. He was the second son of King Oscar I and Queen Josephine. As Prins Gustaf or just as G***** he composed more than 50 songs, and is celebrated especially for The Student Song (Studentsången) used at all junior-college graduation events and Spring Song (Vårsång) sung by choirs every Walpurgis Eve which is a big event in Scandinavia. In 1846 he was made an honorary member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. He died unmarried of typhoid fever visiting Norway. A romantic 1944 movie Prince Gustaf dealt with his desire to marry an actress. He is remembered through a remarkable monument which looks like a grave near Haga Palace in Solna, Sweden.
