Funeral services for Mr. Shelton Lafleur, 91, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park. The Rev. Jeff DeBlanc will conduct the services.

Mr. Lafleur, a resident of Opelousas, died at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 1999, in Opelousas General Hospital. He was the manager of the Old Heymann Department Store in Opelousas. Mr. Lafleur was an avid Hunter and Fisherman, a retired grocery store owner and a farmer. He was in the Apiary operation (beekeeping). Mr. Lafleur was a member of the La. Wildlife Federation.

Survivors include: three sons, Verbis Lafleur and wife Kathryn, Richard Lafleur and wife Carrol and Robert (Bobby) Lafleur and wife Priscilla, all of Opelousas; a daughter, Marie Mumme and husband Jules III of New Orleans; a sister, Mildred Poret of Baton Rouge; two daughters-in-law, Jean S. Lafleur of Charleston, West Virginia, and Brenda M. Lafleur of Opelousas; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Lafleur was preceded in death by his wife, Lucette Bernard Lafleur; two sons, Roger and Earl Lafleur; and his parents, Valtine and Agatha Dupre Lafleur.

Donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

Visiting hours will be observed from 5 to 10 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. Saturday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.

Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the Old Sunset Road in Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.
